General Information

Mathematica Box Copy Software-Student Use
Mathematica box copy software is available to students at an educational discount from the MSU Computer Store. Customers will be limited to one copy of an individual product per calendar year.
Mathematica Software-Departmental Use

Please be aware that the license fees collected have not been sufficient to cover the annual contract cost from Wolfram/Mathematica. Therefore, the 2009 single user license will sell for $80.00. Current pricing is not covering the cost of the contract. Pricing was $40.00 for 2008, $80 for 2009, and will likely increase to $160 in 2010.

Departments are able to purchase Mathematica software through a site license from the MSU Computer Store. This is an annual license that expires December 9, 2010. All licenses must be renewed at that time in order to continue use of the software.

These licenses are for departments only and are not returnable. Licenses are to be used only on departmental machines by current faculty and staff members and are for academic use only.

Installation Information

Mathematica Box Copy Software-Student Use
The software comes in a box with everything you need to install and activate the software. Insert the CD and follow the on screen instructions.
Mathematica Software-Departmental Use
  1. Purchase a license for Mathematica (annual renewal required). Your receipt is your proof of license.
  2. Activation Code-Your code will be sent to you after you follow the registration process (found below).
  3. Purchase Media if Needed-Insert the CD and follow the on screen instructions.
To register your Mathematica software:
  • Go to register.wolfram.com
  • Enter the MSU license number L2363-9590
  • Select "I want to register a product and generate a password"
  • Enter the MATH ID in the single-user box and the machine name
  • Enter your user info
  • Your password will be sent to the site administrator. You should receive your code within 24 hours of registration.

Upgrades

Mathematica Box Copy Software-Student Use
Upgrades are not available.
Mathematica Software-Departmental Use
If a new version is released, you may purchase a new media set as long as you have a current and valid license.

Home Use Provision

Mathematica Box Copy Software-Student Use
One box copy provides for licensing one computer.
Mathematica Software-Departmental Use
  • Home use is permitted as long as you have purchased a license for use on campus.
  • To register for home use and to receive the home use media go to: http://wolfram.com/siteinfo/homeuse/.
    • You will need to enter the MSU license number L2363-9590 and fill out the rest of the requested information.

Media

Mathematica Box Copy Software-Student Use
Media is included with the license.
Mathematica Software-Departmental Use
  • Media must be purchased separately.
  • Media for home use is available for download or on CD when you register for this service.
  • If you are using a license server, you will need the License Manager software in addition to the installation software. Please contact the Site License Coordinator to request a copy.
