Specials, Flyers, and Promotions
Most specials that are promoted by Dell.com, Dell TV, Dell Radio, and
Dell Flyers advertise the lowest price and configuration possible for a particular
computer model. These systems often have
only a 90 day or one year warranty.
Most education systems have three year warranties and recommended minimum
configurations rather than the lowest possible configuration and price.
What
if the MSU/Dell price is higher after you have configured the Dell.com special
to match Education specifications?
1. Select a “MSU Special” with
equal or improved features for less money.
2. The MSU Computer Store will ask
Dell to match the price, as long
as the configurations from both sites are exactly the same.
MSU Specials are desktop and laptop
computers and accessories that have been discounted especially for MSU. The MSU Specials Tab is located on the Dell
Premier home page.
Price Matches will normally be given to
MSU for any advertised Dell price, except when the Dell price includes a rebate.
Rebates can’t be matched because Dell
does not issue full value for rebates, (Dell like most vendors expect that
approximately 50% of individuals eligible for rebates don’t get them because
the rebate form isn’t turned in on time, the paperwork is incomplete, people
forget to cash the check, etc). In order
to get a price match from Dell you simply need to send us a fax containing the
advertised special along with the exact configuration that you want matched. (Fax to: 353-5364)

Dell offers desktop and laptop computers through two platforms.

MSU Departments generally purchase Optiplex and Precision desktops and Latitude notebooks because the product lines are designed for more scheduled product life cycles, networked environments and business use
- Individuals for home use generally purchase Vostro desktops and laptops because they are not concerned if the parts that make up the system today are the same a week later. They mainly care about features and a good price. This line is generally not selected for departmental use because the constantly changing product line makes it extremely difficult for IT support staff to maintain.
- Click on the link Click

configure a customized computer system.
When finished, click on Add to Cart then Save as E-Quote.
- To save an E-quote, fill out all of the marked fields. Leave blank
the spaces asking you to send this E-quote to your MSU Store Mgr.
- Click on Continue to finish saving your E-Quote
- Your E-Quote is now saved. For Departments, put this number on your
requisition as the stock number, and send to the Computer Store. Our fax
number is 3-5364. You may also use the E-Quote number as the stock number
using our online order form, which can be used to place orders for quotes
under $5000.
- For Personal Purchases, print out your E-Quote information and
bring it to 110 Computer Center for ordering. Or you can order on-line using a credit
card. On-line credit card
purchases are paid in full at the time the order is placed. In person hardware orders can be placed
with a $100 non-refundable deposit.
- Once an E-quote is saved it can’t be changed. If you need changes you must save a new
E-quote, the old E-quote will be deleted off the system after 30 days.
- Dell pricing on the MSU/Dell website includes free shipping.
Choose parts and accessories from names such
as Netgear, Linksys, 3 Comm, Xerox, Okidata, Canon, Epson, and more.
- Click on Software & Peripherals on the main "Dell” web
page to access parts and accessories categories.
DELL Technical Support Information
If you are experiencing
problems with your Dell computer you can call the MSU ACNS Help Desk
at (517) 432-6200 to make sure your problem is not software related, and that you do
not have a virus or other security problem.
If you determine that you
have a hardware problem call Dell’s (800) phone number to get technical assistance. Dell will fix the problem with you over the
phone, ship you customer replaceable parts, or come on-site to perform a repair,
depending on the nature of the problem.
The MSU Computer Repair
department is an authorized Dell repair center, but warranty covered problems should
first be reported to Dell’s (800) number to avoid a diagnostics charge.
