Site License Terms

To help clarify some of the commonly used site licensing terms please see the list below.

Microsoft

Software Assurance:
Software Assurance provides you with automatic upgrades to new versions of the license you purchased for a set amount of time. Software Assurance when purchased new includes the license, but media is not included. Prices listed for software assurance cover a term that expires August 2008. Prices will be pro-rated as time progresses.
CAL:
CAL (Client Access License) are not software products, it is a license that gives the user the right to access the services of a server. CAL's can be purchased as either per USER or per DEVICE licenses. For more information on CAL's click the following link to Microsoft's webpage: Microsoft CAL Guide.

Adobe

Maintenance:
Maintenance is a program that will allow you to receive product updates for the allotted amount of time you purchased, (one year, two years, etc.). This is the only method by which you can receive upgrades. Maintenance must be purchased at the same time you buy the original license.
Concurrent:
Concurrent licensing is a software license model that is based on the number of simultaneous users accessing the program. This model typically deals with software running on a server where users connect via the network. For example, in a five-user concurrent license, once five users are logged on to the program, the sixth user is prohibited. When any one of the first five log off, the next person can log on.
